Marcia A. Wood
| Special Notice to Potential Candidates for 2012 Elections Following the passage of HB 1355, 99.021(1)(b)(2) F.S. has changed the candidate oath that must be signed in order to qualify for public office. As part of that change, the candidate is required to state in writing, "That the person has not been a registered member of any other political party for 365 days before the beginning of qualifying preceding the general election for which the person seeks to qualify." This means that the last date a candidate could have changed their party and run under that party in the primary was last June , 2011. Therefore, if a potential candidate has changed his or her party affiliation within the 365 day period, he or she may only run as a "No Party Affiliation" candidate. |
